Obituary for Vernon E. Tracey Sr.
Vernon E. Tracey, Sr., 79, of Hampstead, passed away on Thursday January 4, 2018. Born September 7, 1938 in Butler, MD, he was the son of the late George and Marie (Naylor) Tracey.
He served in the Army from 1957 - 1959 and was a member of Shiloh U.M. Church. He owned and operated Tidy Cleaning Service for over 50 years and enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling and attending spring training in Florida with his son. He was a member of the Hampstead Lions Club and enjoyed outdoor activities at the Lions Club Park, where he built and maintained "Vernon's Woods".
Surviving is son, Vernon E. Tracey, Jr. and wife Brenda (Miller) of Hampstead; brothers, George L. Tracey and wife Mary (Ruby) of Hampstead, Charles V. Tracey and friend Denise Justus of Hampstead; sisters, Gladys Walsh of Hampstead, Judy Tracey Wilhelm and husband Richard of Hampstead; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved partner of 15 years, Joan Pugh of Towson.
He was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Sterling Walsh and Lawrence Cooper and a sister, Doris Tracey Cooper.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at ELINE FUNERAL HOME, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead, MD. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 pm at the Eline Funeral Home with Rev. Barbara Allen officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 577, Hampstead, MD 21074; Hampstead Lions Club, P.O. Box 121, Hampstead, MD 21074 for the Lions Club Park.
