Life Story for Vernon Edward Kirk Jr.

Vernon Edward Kirk, Jr., 92, of Randallstown, MD passed away on January 2, 2018 at Copper Ridge in Sykesville, MD. He was born on October 24, 1925 in Baltimore, MD to the late Vernon E. Kirk, Sr. and the late Mildred (nee Garrison) Kirk. He was married to the late Agnes Frances Kirk.

Mr. Kirk served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII where he received a Purple Heart in 1944. He was the 1951 American Stock Car Racing Association of MD Champion. After racing he had worked for 35 years as an Auto Parts Manager. He was a member of the American Legion Post 122. His hobbies included bowling in duckpin leagues, camping on the Eastern Shore and he loved reading about planes and watching them take off and land.

He is survived by his son Stephen Joseph Kirk of Randallstown; son John Edward Kirk of Abbottstown; daughter Mary Elizabeth Nickles of Melbourne, FL; son David Gerald Kirk of Hanover, PA; sister Betty Riley of Hampstead; brother Francis Kirk; brother Wayne Kirk of Baltimore; sister Doris Hoover of Reisterstown; sister Judy Miller of Reading, CA; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; predeceased by 1 grandchild.

Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD on Thursday, 3-5 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, 11am, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Randallstown, MD. Interment in Lake View Memorial Park.
