The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of William Brown can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Life Story for William Ralph Brown

William Ralph  Brown
William Ralph (Bill) Brown of Towson, MD succumbed to Parkinson’s disease and passed away peacefully on November 9, 2017. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife Jean of 59 years.

Survived by daughters Debbie (Dave) Gibbons, Kim (Bruce) Eline, Karen (Matt) Hranicka, grandchildren Lauren Gibbons, Christopher Eline, Matthew Gibbons, Michael Hranicka, Jennifer Eline Fitzsimmons, Emily Eline, and Melissa Hranicka as well as his brother, John Brown.

A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Bill was an accomplished businessman, athlete, and soldier. A 1952 graduate of Kenwood High School, he was inducted into their athletic hall of fame, where he excelled as a student and athlete. Bill graduated from Loyola College in 1956 where he helped guide the Greyhounds as a captain of the basketball team his senior year under legendary coach “Lefty” Reitz. He was also named a distinguished military graduate and nominated as a Rhodes Scholar. He spent 20 years as an IAABO college basketball official.

Bill enjoyed a successful business career, starting with Standard Oil of New Jersey, as well as Meade Johnson Pharmaceuticals, before building a successful retail and institutional career at Merrill Lynch, where he retired in 1997 as a Vice President.

Additionally, Bill served in the Maryland Army National Guard for many years, retiring as Brigadier General in 1990.

Family will receive friends at the Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD on Thursday 4-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Glyndon, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon, MD on Friday 9:15am. Interment in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
