Obituary for Vito Tunzi

Vito Tunzi
Vito Tunzi, 53, of Manchester, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a 14 year battle with heart disease. Born September 15, 1964 in Bari, Italy, he was the son of the late Nicola “Nick” and Costanza (Verroca) Tunzi. He was the beloved husband of Cherie Wilhelm Tunzi, his wife of 31 years.
A 1982 graduate of North Carroll High School and an active member of North Carroll Assembly of God, Vito had been a carpenter/contractor who loved woodworking, cooking, entertaining his family and friends, and especially enjoyed Friday date nights with his wife. He was an avid Ravens fan who also enjoyed his dog, Lando, and his cats, DJ and Numa.
Vito will be remembered by his great sense of humor, generosity, and love for life.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Joshua Tunzi and wife Jaimie and Vito’s grandson Silas of Finksburg, Justin Tunzi of Owings Mills, and Jordan Tunzi of Manchester; brothers, Umberto “Bert” Tunzi and wife Donna, Francesco “Frank” Tunzi and husband Jim Rowe, and Giuseppe “Pino” Tunzi. Vito is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, James and Shelby Wilhelm; sisters-in-law, Tammy and husband Alan Potter, Teri Williams, and Cathy Shea; best friend, Pat Shea; nephews and nieces, Eric and Annie Wilhelm, J.T. Potter, Cheryl Williams, Kristin and Dominic Cucina, Ashley and Kyle Thomas, Britney Williams, Stacie Shea, Nicholas Tunzi, Christian Tunzi, godson, and Josephine Tunzi; and goddaughters Taylor Burress and Lauren Bodnar. Vito was predeceased by his precious nephew, Michael Shea.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead, MD. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017, beginning with a viewing at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3184 Church Street, Manchester, MD.
