Obituary for Raymond W. Page

Raymond W. Page died on August 3, 2017 in Parkville, Maryland at the age of 82.

Raymond is survived by wife, Susan S. Page, children and spouses of John D. Page, James H. Page, Tracey Page Jolley, and nine adoring grandchildren.

Raymond was born on February 8, 1935 in New Berlin, New York to Howard L. Page and Doris L. Page. In 1953, he joined the US Army at the age of 18. Later, he went on to graduate from SUNY Oswego, with additional coursework from Syracuse University, Harvard University, and a Master’s degree in Education from SUNY Oneonta. In 1959, he married Susan T. Schaffer.

Raymond began his career in Norwich, New York, overseeing the student teacher program at SUNY Oneonta. He then began his teaching career in the Norwich, New York School District. After moving to Rochester in 1967, he began working for the Greece Central School District and remained with the district for over 30 years, ultimately being the Superintendent of his beloved district.

Ray's goals of approachability, promoting diversity, the arts, and supporting teachers were realized during his time in Greece. He strived to connect with his colleagues and students in the Greece Central School District.

A memorial service is scheduled for August 10, 2017 at the Oak Crest Village chapel, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Raymond W Page may be made to the Oak Crest Village scholarship fund.

The Scholars’ Fund, provides assistance with college expenses to eligible Oak Crest dining service students. The Scholarship attracts a fine group of conscientious young people who are grateful for the privilege of working here to serve our residents and to participate in the program. Residents also profit from the interaction of these students on a daily basis and both are influenced by being part of each other’s lives.
