Robert Carroll Martin, 88, of Manchester, passed away Wednesday August 2, 2017 at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover, PA.

Born April 14, 1929 in Upperco, MD, he was a son of the late Carroll Howard and Elsie May Tracey Martin. He was the husband of the late Catherine Abbott Martin, who died in 1983.

Prior to retirement, he was the mill operator at J. C. Wilhelm Sawmill. He was one of the original founders and a lifetime member of Prettyboy Hunt Club. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Upperco. He enjoyed raising and racing thoroughbred horses.

Surviving are his daughter, Sue A. Martin of Manchester; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. and Cathy Martin of Manchester, Ronald L. and Janice Martin of Reisterstown, Dennis C. and Melanie Martin of Manchester; brother, Ivan Martin of Manchester; grandchildren, Robbie, Wendy, Robin, Tina and Heather; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was also predeceased by his sister, Betty Staub, brother, Eldridge Martin, his second wife, Lillian May Martin and his lifelong companion, Ruth Steger.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 6, 2017, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main Street, Hampstead. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2017 at the funeral home with the Rev. Matthew Schenning officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Arcadia.
