For 40 years, Kiu was a loving and devoted wife to Yuk Cheung Tang. When the couple first met during a dim sum meal, 44 years ago, it was love at first sight. Since then, they have constantly been by each other’s side. From their biggest decision to move from Hong Kong to the US to make a better life for their family, to taking trips around the world. Kiu was Papa’s best friend and soul mate. In her last days, he was by her side. Papa always thought that he would leave this world before her and it was heartbreaking to hear him utter his last words in her ear as he said his final goodbyes.

Life was not always easy for Kiu, but she overcame many obstacles, and it never changed her spirit. Mummy was a caring, soft, friendly, and warm person. She showed love in ways only a mother could, always caring for her family and making sure her family was well fed. She was a hard worker and never complained.

As a mother-in-law, Mommy was always supportive. She never interfered in our relationships and treated us as if we were her own daughters, right from the beginning. It will be strange to raise our children without her loving presence. She always had patience for them and would come to their rescue when they were in time-out. Giving them treats was her job, and she did it diligently. We will keep her memory alive by retelling her story and reminding her grandchildren what a wonderful person she was.

Never again will her sons get to hold their mother hand, the first hand that held them; the hand that reached for them when they were crying. The same hand that would pick them up when they were down. Never will she be there to comfort them or feed them. A thousand words and a thousand tears will never bring their mother back. Her body is at rest and she is free from pain. Whatever joy or grieve they may go through they will still carry their mother in their hearts. No matter where in the world they may be, she will still be with them.

There are so many unspoken words, so many unshared moments. There is never enough time with the ones we love. So many things we would have done differently had we known it would be the last time we would see her. Kiu Li Tang was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will always be in our hearts. Her soft and gentle soul touched our family's lives in ways beyond measure. We Love you and miss you Kiu Tang.
