Meeting Dustin was like meeting an old friend you never knew you had

A few years ago I visited Ellicott City for the day and I stumbled upon the Historical Society in the church. I was enthusiastically welcomed by a young man with a big smile. He gave me a tour and his positive attitude and passion for history was inspirational. Within minutes I felt like we were friends. By the end of the tour, he had convinced me to join the historical society, buy some items to support the organization, and volunteer for the 1920s party/fundraiser! He almost convinced me to join his traditional baseball league, too. When I told him I was getting too old to run around the bases, he once again had a way of nearly making me think I could do it! Not long after the 1920s fundraiser, I went back to visit the society and was devastated to learn that Dustin was gone. I didn't think it was possible for such a fine young man to be taken so soon. Every time I walk through the historical society museum I think about Dustin and feel so lucky that our paths crossed for just a brief time.
