Sarah W. "Meekrat" Higgins passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 6, 2015.

Not one for formality, Sarah would be the first to tell you that an obituary is not necessary. However, for those of us left behind, we needed one last chance to let the world know that her constant commentary, strong opinions, ability to turn a phrase, sarcasm, and obscure movie references will be deeply missed. Sarah did what she wanted, how and when she wanted to. Sarah spoke of many, highly of some, and had a story for for every occasion. Quick to give advice and homeopathic remedies, Sarah created a large family out of friends.

She leaves behind her loving partner and confidant Hal Laurent, whom she intended to marry. Sarah joins her beloved mother, Loretta Schaefer Higgins, and Granny, Marie Hartley Schaefer.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 10am at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Pikesville, MD. A potluck celebration of life will be held at The Ranch immediately following.
